Holistic Treatments

Holistic Therapies are?

The treating of the whole person. Taking into account their mental and social factors, rather than just using the symptoms of the disease. It is taken from the Greek word 'Holos' meaning 'Whole'.

Holistic Therapies could help you:

* Because of society is now based more upon stress, strain and the increased usage of adrenaline

* Because we rush from commitment to another, we no longer have time for ourselves

* Because of our punishing schedules and lives, we are abusing the health of our bodies

The body stores this abuse in the form of tight sore muscles, tension headaches, migraines, aches and pains, toxins, lack of sleep, IBS and PMS etc.

Holistic Therapies help our immune system to work at an optimal level, reducing the chances of being prone to infections like flu, coughs and being tired and constantly 'run down'.

Holistic Therapies Help!

To reduce toxin build up, tension, stress and muscular traumas. It will help the body to regain its Homeostasis levels. These therapies will help the following systems of the body:

Skeletal, Endocrine, Respiratory, Anxiety, Nervous, Circulatory, Digestive, Muscular, Urinary, Reproductive, Stress, Depression, Headaches, Migraines, Bad Posture, Sciatica, Back & Neck Pain, Constipation, Lymphatic, Insomnia

As a Holistic Therapist I would apply one or more of the following methods:

Sports and Remedial Massage

This is a deep tissue massage that is used to aid the mobilisation and flexibility of injured muscles to help recovery.

Swedish Massage

A firmer massage that can relax all the muscles and relieve all those aches and pains.

Aromatherapy

The use of a combination of essential oils within carrier oil, applied to the treatment area in a relaxing massage. Essential oils are so fine that they can penetrate the skin and enter the blood so that they can start the healing process very quickly. Different oils work on different parts of the body giving me the ability to blend the oils to help the specific ailment. It improves circulation and eliminates toxins to encourage the body to heal itself.

Reflexology

Works to reduce the build-up of toxins and enables the body to re-balance. A professionally trained reflexologist can detect subtle changes in specific points on the feet and by working on these points may affect the corresponding organs or systems of the body to encourage healing the body to heal itself.

Indian Head Massage

It is a wonderful relaxing treatment, aiming to restore harmony and balance within the body. It is used as a method of treating tension and stress within the head, neck and shoulder areas. It is also used to reduce headaches and migraines, sinus tension and pain, neck and upper back muscle spasms.

The Benefits of a regular massage

Massage benefits the body systems in these ways: - The circulatory system, blood oxygen is increased, blood vessels are toned and all metabolisms improved. In the nervous system pain is reduced and nerve pathways unblocked, aiding relaxation. The blood supply to muscles is increased and the toxins removed. The functions of the respiratory and digestive systems are also improved.

A regular massage therefore boosts the immune system, leaving the individual with a feeling of well-being and minor complaints can be seriously reduced or avoided altogether.
